Penfriends – Second Letters

On this page, you will find some real examples of second letters sent to Thai students and also their reply. If you are a student from abroad and you are writing penfriend letters to Thai students please be careful when you use slang or abbreviations. These words might be well known to you but we might not be able to find that word in a dictionary. If you want to use slang, please try and put the real meaning in brackets so that the Thai students will have a chance to learn some new words that are not in the dictionary.

Hi! How are you? I’m fine. Guess what, we had a Book Parade not so long ago. A Book Parade is where you dress up in a costume. I dressed up as a hippy. We are having a sports carnival on Friday. I am in 800 metres, 200 metres, 100 metres, relay, discus and maybe high jump. What sport do you like? I like horse-riding. What is your favorite colour? Mines purple. What band do you like? I like Aqua.

My hobbies are playing badminton, reading cartoon books and riding my bicycle. Last Wednesday I went to Fashion Island to see a science exposition. It was very fun and very interesting.

Dear Pin,
Hi! I have just come back from a big holiday. It took two months. We went to Queensland, Northern Territory, South Australia and Victoria. We went out on the Great Barrier Reef. It was lots of fun. About two weeks ago we had a Book Fair. I bought a computer game. We also had a parade where we dressed up as a character in a book. It was fun. This Friday we are having a sports carnival called the John O’Neil. I’m not that good at running but it’s fun just trying. I go in everything I can. Guess what?! Dad has just got our computer hooked up to the Internet!!! So I’ll be able to E-Mail to you from home!

Hi! Happy Birthday for July! A while ago I went to the Small Schools sport carnival, it was a lot of fun. I went in the 100m and the 800m races. I came 4th in the 800m and 3rd in the 100m.
Today I have to try out for high jump for the John O’ Neill sport carnival, I hope I get in because I really like high jump. I know I’m in the 100m and maybe the 800m if they have the 800m. Do you have sport carnivals like the John O’Neill Carnival? What are your favourite subjects at school? Mine are story writing and maths.
